Commander Dennis Brown's Message Thanks for visiting the American Legion, Post 84 Website!
We are doing a lot of good things!
First and foremost, we welcome new members! We are a substance free Post that meets at the White River Junction, VT VA Hospital on the first Thursday of the month at 6pm. We typically take the winter off from January – March, starting again in April. This has worked great for us because not having a physical Post means very little ‘overhead’ expenses, which enables us to do more for our community. We also participate in Memorial Day and Veterans Day events and other local events.
Some of our community projects that we support either directly or indirectly are:
1. A US street Flags display along some of our major routes. The Flags are displayed from Memorial Day through Veterans Day. 2. Our Post supports a World War I & II Monument Project to replace a monument that fell into disrepair and was removed. This project is on track to be dedicated in Veterans Park on Memorial Day in 2024. 3. The Post is also supporting the Hartford Heroes Banner Project, which displays 4’ x 2’ banners on light poles of some of local heroes. This is offered to any active or honorably discharged veterans and first responders. 4. We've unofficially adopted the Blue Star Memorial on Rt.4, dedicating time to maintain its appearance and cleanliness. This small but meaningful act underscores our dedication to preserving symbols of honor and remembrance. 5. We also donate to several veteran related organizations such as the Dodge House, the Veterans Home in Bennington Vermont and Hartford’s Veterans Council. 6. We assist in placing flags on veteran's graves in our cemeteries for Memorial Day and then retire them after Veterans Day.
If you are looking for a Legion Post to join, please contact us (our contact info is also located on the Home Page), we’d love to have YOU!
